I have seen other books on beauty that recognize that beauty is more than skin deep, so while rare that isn’t so unique. What makes this book unique is it goes an extra step and delves into ancient history and also the Bible to offer “ancient secrets and modern solutions”. I found the mix of ancient adornment and personal care and the practical advice for modern times both interesting and useful.
I recommend this for anyone who enjoys ancient history or the Bible and is interested in beauty and adornment. It is a great gift for a woman of any age as it is positive and empowering.

Q: What inspired you to Write Biblical Beauty?
A: As a cosmetologist working in the beauty industry for more than two decades, I listened to the nagging fears and self-doubts women expressed about their looks. These days, women are often driven to extreme measures to keep their skin smooth and their bodies taut. I felt it was time to filter out the cultural noise– from beauty magazines, celebrity endorsements, and Internet sites –that can make use feel inferior, and very old! My purpose in writing this book was to present an alternative to our modern-day obsession that focuses solely on physical perfection and youthfulness, Biblical Beauty is a practical guide and resource so that women can feel pride in their physical appearance and find satisfaction in their lives—at every age.
Q: How did you come up with the idea?
A: I was searching for a way to present a more holistic model—one that would reflect not only our physical side, but the unique connection between the mind, body and spirit. To my great surprise, my first inspirational role model in the Bible became apparent one Sabbath morning in synagogue when I read in Genesis 23:1, “And Sarah lived 127 years..” Her life and longevity intrigued me. There had to be so much more to learn about her as a woman.
Q: How do you define beauty?
A: True beauty is timeless. It is not limited to physical features or chronological age. Rather, as you will discover, it is s a reflection of our innermost qualities and the gift of a healthy way of life. Multifaceted and all-encompassing. Biblical beauty resonates throughout the entire body and radiates physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. While standards of beauty have been reshaped by different cultures and reassessed throughout the centuries, Biblical beauty is timeless.
Q: Can you tell us a little about your research process you used?
A: Biblical Beautyexplores its subject from a biblical, historical and cultural perspective. I spent years researching the beauty practices and lifestyles of the ancient civilizations including Mesopotamia, Egypt and the Fertile Crescent. Reading the Scriptures and historical texts, and viewing ancient artifacts, provided the proof that women in ancient times placed great importance on their physical appearance. Remarkably, the natural beauty solutions employed thousands of years ago were the forerunners of the techniques and treatments that are still popular today. Also, I discovered, as you will too, that hidden within the Bible is a beauty manual unlike any other.
Q: What kind of reception have you had from women who read your book?
A: It has been heartwarming to receive so many positive responses from women of all ages—teenagers- to great-grandmothers—who have been inspired by Biblical Beauty. They all agree that this informative and entertaining book is different from other beauty books. How? By seamlessly integrating biblical, historical and cultural perspectives with practical advice and specific tips on a variety of subjects, it offers enlightening guidance on skin care, sun care, makeup, hair care fragrance, jewelry, healthy aging, motherhood and leadership.
