Lately, I have discovered the joys of infusing water. Making your own water infusions creates a healthy, no or low calorie drink and makes it easier to stay hydrated. For 3 Things Thursday, I am sharing three of my favorite infusions. If you find it a challenge to drink enough water or are trying to wear yourself off sodas and sugary drinks then perhaps a fruit or herb water infusion would help!
1. Ginger & Strawberry Water Infusion
This infusion features sliced strawberries and fresh ginger. I found that mincing the ginger works best, so I prefer to use an infuser bottle that prevents some of the ginger from floating loose in the water. Ginger is warm and invigorating and known for having anti-inflammatory benefits (though I am not sure how that applies to the small quantity consumed in an infusion). The strawberry adds a lovely, fruity flavor.
2. Cucumber, Mint & Lemon Iced Herb Tea
This infusion blurs the line between infused water and ice tea. The combination is refreshing and thirst quenching. The mint can take the form of fresh leaves (ideal), though in a pinch I used a bag of mint herbal tea. I left the tea bag, cucumber slices and lemon sliced in my glass water bottle in the refrigerator overnight. The result is probably more of an iced herb tea, but is lovely and refreshing.
3. Tangerine & Lime Water Infusion
Tangarine and Lime make a tangy and zesty infusion. It almost seems a little like an exotic cocktail and sunshine in a bottle.
I am new to infusing water, I would love ideas of other fruits, vegetables or herbs that make tasty and refreshing infusions! Feel free to share your favorites in the comments…
