A new year always feels like a new beginning. I am a big fan of resolutions, I tend to make them seasonally. I find if my resolutions are a little more short term then I am more likely to keep them. One common strategy for keeping a resolution is to make your intention public. So here goes… I will share some of my resolutions with my blog readers and #fitfam!

New Year’s Resolution #1 – Increase My NEAT Activity
Okay, technically this isn’t NEAT (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis) as that is meant to represent non-intentional activity like fidgeting. My goal is to increase my non-workout activity until it is similar to what it was when I wrote the following post.(https://www.feelingfit.info/2014/08/ten-tips-to-increase-your-neat-activity/). I will be following my own tips and will hopefully discover some new tips! I will be using my Fitbit to measure and guide my progress. I am currently testing a Fitbit Charge HR for review and comparing it to my trusty Fitbit One.

New Year’s Resolution #2 Be More Consistent With My Workouts:
Sometimes it helps to work through a program or challenge. There is something about the structure and accountability. During the month of January (1/5 – 2/1), I will complete the Barre3 Challenge! Usually, I am a little free form in my fitness routine. I have a loose structure I follow (2-3 strength workouts, 2-4 cardio workouts, yoga and stretching at least 2 times a week). However after the holidays, I find following an organized program is a good kick start for the year. I recently tried live Barre3 classes at a local studio and just loved the positive energy of the class and the way the workouts made me feel. So it seemed the perfect program to start the year right!
The Barre3 Challenge involves doing four one-hour Barre3 workouts a week (either classes or online streaming workouts), at least one 10 minute workout, and trying at least one suggested seasonal recipe. I plan to do a mix of studio and online classes as I received a Barre3 class pass as a Christmas gift. (Thanks Santa!). I will do the streaming workouts for convenience and to save money and enjoy the live classes for the instruction and wonderful group energy! When possible, I will walk to the live classes. In case you are interested, you can find information about the Barre3 Challenge on the Challenge website. I reached out to Barre3 with my intention and they graciously provided a few Barre3 goodies to help me with the challenge. I will keep you posted!

Resolution #3: Spend A Few Moments in Focused Relaxation
2014 has been a stressful year with new projects, life changes and family crisis. While it has been a time of growth and change, it has also been exhausting and did I already mention stressful? One goal for the new year is to spend at least a few minutes in contemplation and relaxation. I have much to be thankful for and will remind myself daily.

Resolution #4: Drink More Fluids
Coffee, red wine and Matcha count, right? No? Okay, I will drink more good old H2O. I recently discovered the joy of making fruit infused water and that is making a difference in my water consumption.

Happy New Years! If you have any resolutions that you would like to share, I would love to read them!

Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wished to say that I have truly enjoyed surfing around your blog posts. In any case I will be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again very soon!
Great ideas – I need to make a list, as well. I don’t do resolutions, but some changes would be good! 🙂
#2 and #4 are definitely on my list as well! That ginger strawberry water looks awesome! :]
Thanks for participating in the link up! Drinking more fluids is something I need to do as well. Good call on that one.

I need to be more intentional with my health so drinking more water and getting more exercise is a goal, as is volunteering more. Happy New Year!
I need to drink more water too but it is hard to do when it is cold out.
That’s just FAB!! I might have to follow along your journey with you!! I really need to be motivated!!
