Caprese salad is one of my favorites during Spring and Summer. I recently enjoyed an amazing Caprese at a local farm restaurant and realized it is a healthy and easy way to enjoy Summer’s bounty. I set out to learn wow to make perfect olive oil and balsamic vinegar Caprese salad. It didn’t take long to figure it out, it really helps to start with good ingredients. With the right ingredients it is hard to go wrong with this recipe. I was fortunate that I had Gourmet Living’s Balsamic Vinegar of Modena on hand (I received a bottle to test and review). Balsamic Vinegar is a staple in my kitchen, but I never really felt excited about it.

I am just getting into cooking with balsamic vinegar and trying and developing recipes. Healthy balsamic vinegar offers a delicious flavor to your favorite salads and recipes.
Perfect Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar Caprese Salad:

- a dash or two of salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash basil and tomatoes
- Slice tomatoes and mozzarella cheese and layer on a large plate
- Mix garlic and salt together and sprinkle on top of the tomato and mozzarella mixture
- Top with basil leaves, I used a pair of kitchen shears to create thin strips of basil
- drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar

My Experience With Gourmet Living’s Balsamic Vinegar of Modena:
It is hard to go wrong with Caprese since it is really all about the tomatoes and the basil. Good cheese also helps. I never really thought much about the vinegar, but I know some of my friends add honey or sugar to their Caprese dressing. With Gourmet Living’s Balsamic Vinegar, I feel no need to add any sugar or sweetener. The vinegar is already naturally sweet and concentrated. I think this is the best balsamic vinegar I have tasted so far. I feel it too my Caprese to the next level. I have also used it in barbeque (pulled chicken), to make a nice olive oil and vinegar salad dressing, and in a marinade for fish and shrimp. It also makes an amazing dip for bread.
