Kinesiology tape is a great tool for a serious athlete or weekend warrior. Fans claim that kinesioolgy tape can boost circulation, support injured areas and even improve athletic performance.
While I can’t comment on the validity of these claims, I was excited to have the opportunity to try Poetic Health Kinesiology Tape.
I am not a medical or fitness professional. I am a recreational exerciser who likes to try different techniques. Sometimes I am surprised by the benefits of a new (to me) technique (For example, I was skeptical of foam rolling until I tried it and noticed benefits). So I like to keep an open mind especially about techniques that others find useful.
I occasionally experience mild knee pain either from inactivity or from high impact activity. I decided to test my Poetic Health Kinesiology Tape on my knees to see whether it helps me with high impact activity. I noticed light compression and support which made my jump rope workout more comfortable.
I can’t say for sure whether it is more effective than a compression garment as I haven’t yet tried one for the knees. However, I see that the tape has the benefit of being adaptable to a variety of joints and muscles.
I also discovered an off-label use. I had an infested cyst that had to be treated by a surgeon. At one point I used this Kinesiology Tape as first aid tape to keep my wound dressing in place while awaiting my appointment.
The tape is waterproof, flexible and sweat proof and proved very useful–though the bright turquoise color is a little bolder than I would prefer in a first aid tape. I can vouch for the comfort of wearing this tape and the mobility it allows.
