Are you looking for a natural look from your foundation without the mess of an airbrush machine? Michael Todd new sonicBLEND Makeup Brush may be just what your need!
As you may know, I previously reviewed Michael Todd’s sonic cleansing brush. Since I was so impressed with the brush, I gladly accepted the opportunity to review the new sonicBLEND Makeup Brush.
My Review of Michael Todd’s sonicBLEND Makeup Brush
My first impression is that the brush has a significant weight to it and the brush is soft. It didn’t strike me as cheap or gimmicky. The pink color is cute and cheerful like a Barbie accessory.
I tried the brush with liquid foundation and was initially unsure whether I applied makeup. The result was very natural looking. I am pretty good at choosing a foundation that looks natural, so perhaps it was not a fair test.
Then I tried applying a bronzer, blush, highlighter set I received from the Summer Fab Fit Fun box. These colors are beautiful, but I have trouble applying them in a way that does not result in an overly made-up look. I was impressed that the sonicBLEND did a nice job blending the bronzer. It even looked okay in my magnifying makeup mirror. The color still stood out as a little bold for my pale coloring, but I was able to apply much less product and blend it better. I think with a little practice, the result will be quite natural looking.
While applying makeup, the vibrating brush offers a facial massage. The massage felt nice, but I was careful not to press the brush to the skin. The brush is soft, but it is still possible for it to irritate sensitive skin. My face tingled for a few seconds after using the brush. I am impressed how smooth my skin feels. I turned the brush off when applying makeup around the eyes; the vibration seemed a little strong for this sensitive area.
The brush is cordless, you charge and recharge it using a USB cable. I like this feature. My Michael Todd’s sonic cleansing brush uses a nice touch based charger that I prefer. My one tiny issue is that I wish the sonicBLEND uses a similar charger. I also hope they offer different brushes for different skin types. This brush is okay for my semi-sensitive skin, but I think it might be too firm for anyone with very sensitive skin.
Overall, I love how my skin looks when I apply makeup using the sonicBLEND Makeup Brush. I can get a similar look using a sponge and foundation brush. However, I do it using less product with this brush. Also, as much as I like blending sponges, I worry about them accumulating bacteria. A brush is easier to clean, and the sonicBLEND is antimicrobial.
