Many of you know that I love skin care. I feel that a good skin care program should be a sensually pleasurable experience that helps you look and feel your best. Don’t worry! I am keeping this family friendly, I say sensual as the right products are pleasing to several senses including touch and scent as well as the visual benefits.
I thought I was not a toner person. A lot of toners are too harsh for my semi-sensitive skin and cause drying and irritation. They may work wonderfully for other people as skin varies so much!
I was excited to learn that some “toners” do work well with my skin.
What I look for in a Toner:
- It should not irritate my skin
- It should be sensually pleasing to use
- I should notice some cosmetic benefit from use
Orange Blossom (Neroli) Water Toner from Foxbrim
This toner is made from Orange Blossom Water. I find certain floral waters very beneficial and pleasant to use. I mainly use this directly as a refreshing and invigorating toner, but it can also be used to mix a facial mask (another post!). It has a lovely lightly fruity, floral scent that reminds me of the Mediterranean.
I have used other Foxbrim products before and have been impressed. According to Foxbrim, Organge Blossom Water “has astringent and anti-microbial properties to provide skin a fresh and balanced feel while removing excess dirt and oil.”
As someone with semi-sensitive combination skin, I prefer to use Orange Blossom when I feel my skin is a little oily or if I used too many oily products. If my skin feels a little dry, I prefer Rose Water Toner…
Ingredients: Orange blossom, Distilate
Rose Water Toner
I have used a few types of Rose Water. The main thing I look for is minimal ingredients just distilled rose (or rose oil) and water. I find Rose Water lightly moisturizing and soothing. For me the scent can be hit or miss. I love the smell of fresh rose blossoms and the light smell of many rose waters. I don’t care for an overly concentrated rose smell though.
Rose water can also be used on the hair, as a mask mixer or in a bath.
Juara Hydrating Toner-Tamarind Tea
This is the toner that made me realize I like some toners. I first received it on a box that I use to subscribe to and was immediately impressed. I found it soothing and moisturizing. In a way it seemed more like a serum than a toner.
Ingredients: Water, Pentylene Glycol, Tamarind Seed (Tamarindus Indica) Extract, White Tea, Green Tea, Black Tea (Camellia Sinensis) Extract, Rice (Oryza Sativa) Bran Extract, Honey Extract, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Potassium Sorbate.
